Four actors play 15 parts in this staged reading of Syrenvägen, written by one of the most prominent playwrights in Sweden, Anders Duus. 

What is a staged reading? The actors are reading the text from their manuscripts, as it is written. The performance is directed and contains theatrical elements, such as visual design and sound design.

The performances at Lavaklubi are in Finnish, with subtitles in English and Russian.

About the play

Are you longing for a summer paradise? Located along a scenic headland, only 70 km from the big city, Syrenvägen awaits you!

Here you'll find everything you could ever wish for: original buildings from the 1970's waiting for a light update, good neighbors who know everything about the previous owners, and an authentic national traditional environment. Get to know the picturesque surroundings by getting involved in the water association, the pier association, the road association, or one of the other essential organizations run by local forces. Learn about gardening with the help of your new neighbors, they've got years of experience regarding snail control. Join Lovisa, the fourth generation of the Jonsson family at Udden, on one of her many daily walks along Syrenvägen. You're guaranteed to meet both old and new residents. But above all: Remember that the lawn should be kept short, even if you're only a summer guest.

A fantastic summer. The sound of hammers across the lake. The sun on your back. A mustard-yellow original cottage, made of scrap wood and Masonite. Wild roses, tiger lilies and lavender. Roots and clumps are removed, and new black soil is added. A whole new garden will be created here. Gossip center. Welcome to our idyllic Finnish summer. But the nights are short in June. Soon, the blackbird will start singing it's morning tune. The faint sound of children's laughter and oriental pop music. The bumblebees are fewer each ear. Vacation mode activated. Everyone's busy with their own things. You gotta love a fairly close-knit community for this to work.

Что такое инсценированная читка?
Это значит, что актеры читают текст так, как он написан, прямо по рукописи, перед публикой. Чтение поставлено режиссером и включает театральные элементы — звук и визуальное оформление.

Добро пожаловать в нашу финскую летнюю идиллию... Но июньская ночь коротка... Скоро черный дрозд снова запоет свою утреннюю песню... Детский смех и тихий звук восточной поп-музыки... С каждым годом пчел становится все меньше... Поговорим о ритме отпуска... О покое, который возникает, когда все занимаются своими делами... Чтобы хорошо провести время, нужно быть довольно общительным...
